Throughout his career, Jerry De St. Paer has served in a variety of executive leadership roles in the insurance industry – he has significant transaction experience, particularly in asset management. 

Current Executive & Board Experience

SCOR Re US – New York – 2010 to Present: He is a member of the board of directors of SCOR Global Life Re US (audit committee chair and risk committee member) and of SCOR Reinsurance US (audit committee member)

Ibexis Life & Annuity Insurance Company – West Palm Beach – 2022 to Present: Ibexis is a start-up annuity company owned by Investcorp. He is a member of the board of directors (audit committee chair)

Advisor and Consultant – 2010 to Present: He has been a senior advisory partner at Grail Partners since 2010.

Kairos Acquisition Corp (KAIRU on NASDAQ) – 2020 to Present: In 2020 Mr. de St. Paër was named Chief Financial Officer of Kairos Acquisition Corp, a Cayman domiciled, NASDAQ-listed and insurance-focused Special Purpose Acquisition Company/

XL Capital Ltd (NYSE) – Bermuda – 2001 to 2007: Chief Financial Officer.

Insurance Investment Banking – New York – 1996 to 2001: Managing Director in insurance investment banking at JP Morgan and then at Hudson International Advisors.

AXA Equitable (NYSE) and AXA Groupe – New York & Paris - 1986 to 1996: His 30+-year career in insurance began in 1986 as CFO of an investment subsidiary of The Equitable. Among other responsibilities, he had financial management responsibility for separate accounts supporting insurance products. He progressed through positions of increasing responsibility to become the Senior EVP and CFO of The Equitable. Reporting to CEO Dick Jenrette, he managed the demutualization, investment in Equitable by AXA, and IPO of Equitable on the NYSE. Simultaneously, he became an Executive Vice President of AXA Groupe in Paris reporting to CEO Claude Bebear responsible for global strategic studies and corporate development. He served as a member of the board of directors of Alliance Bernstein and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (both NYSE). He was responsible at Equitable for the management of the IPOs on the NYSE of Alliance Bernstein and DLJ. He also served as a director of AXA Re US, Equitable of Japan, National Mutual (Australia) and National Mutual HK. Richard H. Steel Service, Global Manufacturing and Trading, and Engineering Consulting – Philadelphia, New York, & San Francisco – 1973 to 1986: CFO of privately held and OTC companies.

ExxonMobil – New York, Miami & Rio de Janeiro – 1966 to 1973: He began his career in the Treasurer’s Department of ExxonMobil (then Standard Oil Company (New Jersey)). He was Senior Financial Advisor at Esso Chemical, Treasurer of Esso Chemical Supply Co, Risk and Insurance Manager for Esso in Latin America, and Assistant Treasurer of Esso Brasileira.

US and International Accounting Standard Setting & Regulation

Group of North American Insurance Enterprises – New York – 2006 to 2012:

Mr. de St. Paër served as Executive Chairman of the Group of North American Insurance Enterprises, representing the North American industry before the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) in London, the Financial Accounting Standards Board of the US (FASB), the US SEC, the NAIC, EIOPA and the Bermuda Monetary Authority.

FASB and IASB Advisory Councils – Hartford & London – 2006 to 2013: He was selected by FASB in 2006 to represent the insurance industry as a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council (FASAC) and he was nominated by FASB in 2009 to become a member of the IFRS Advisory Council of the IASB in London.

PCAOB – Washington, DC – 2012 to 2014: He served as a representative of the insurance industry on the Standing Advisory Group of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB).

Volunteer Community Service

In his commitment to community service, Mr. de St. Paer served from 2010 to 2020 as Chair of the Bermuda Wellness Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity raising funds for the hospital and wellness initiatives on the Island. Mr. de St. Paer served for more than 20 years each on the board of directors of the Ronald McDonald House of New York, the Advisory Board of the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, and the board of trustees of North Central College. He served as a director of the Greater New York Councils of the Boy Scouts and received the Distinguished Eagle Scout award of the Boy Scouts in 2016.

Education

Mr. de St. Paer holds an MA from the School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University and a BA in mathematics from North Central College (Illinois).
